January 21,2025 SE Texas woke up to an actual blanket of snow! School was cancelled for two days.
This was 7:40 AM
Carolina didn't want to go outside. I gave her chances to warm up. She chose to watch from the window
Finally I told her it was special and it could be YEARS before it happened again and that she needed to toughen up put on her boots and come out to play!
I took these pics of beau through the window when I was inside with Carolina
Finally convinced her to go out the door! I told Dane to hurry before she changed her mind
Of course she had a blast!
These pics were at 9:12 and we had so much more snow already!
Snow angels
This was the most snow we've ever seen in our 30 years as Texas natives
Backyard
If we weren't outside we were looking out the windows! The puppies were like what is going on?!
Daddy got this 4wheeler he's selling up and running and took it for a spin
Beau and his dump truck
I got up from putting beau down for a nap and daddy was taking JuneBug outside! I was like wait for me!!!
The thing about snow...we don't have snow suits or water proof gloves so we were WET! And once your wet and cold it's miserable. We were out every chance we could to enjoy it but I spent lots of time gathering wet clothes and drying them.
During all of this, my best friend went into labor and had a super fast crazy delivery! I was like oh my gosh of course you did! She went into labor the day after my due date with Zoey Joy. Every January I get a little sad because it feels like something is missing. Like I should be planning a birthday party and celebrating another milestone. So I've always said if we had another baby I would to try to plan the due date for January. Well let's just say Melanie's birth story and being in the hospital for the snow and coming home in ice made me re think that! LOL but what a memorable birth for her and we're so thankful the Lord answered their prayers and gave Ellie a healthy baby sister, Romelia Ann Nickerson.
When we had stomped down most of our snow we played in the neighbors yard! He was out of town and he wouldn't mind.
When we woke up we still had quite a bit of snow! That has never happened in our life for sure! It was a new record for TX! La Porte ended up with about 6" of snow! And it stayed freezing so it didn't melt.
Giant snowball at nanas house! When you have a cousin a few streets down you have to go make lifelong memories together!
Beau loved just shoveling with his bowl and spoon. Carolina got into throwing snowballs. Her daddy threw some hard snowballs and he threw mommy into the snow! I thought I was dead for a second lol
Oh my gosh the HIPPO. Carolina kept burying it and then losing it. There were multiple hippo search parties formed!
The life
This is what we had left when we got home
Jan 23rd back to school!
Beau and I went to Kroger and of course got a treat. We went to pick up some things for Melanie and her family, just healthy snacks and convenience food. I couldn't stop thinking about how cold and yucky it would be and how she went into labor a little earlier than expected so she probably wasn't prepared and definitely wasn't prepared for snow and ice! I wanted to keep them from having to leave the house if possible. We dropped it off at the door!
Carolina fell asleep in the car after school.
Jan 24th!
Beau and his poses kill me
Her teacher and I talked during the snowstorm! She sent me pics of her daughter who is a senior in HS this year. On this morning I had a story to tell her! LOL
Dane ended up off work early and I asked him if he wanted to pick up Junie. He said either that or he could stay with beau and I could go. I hadn't had my toes done since October so I decided to pick her up a little early and take her for her first pedicure!
She cracked me up! She stuck her hands in the foot water and smoothed her hair down.
She did amazing and it was so fun doing special girly things with my perfect daughter!
She picked pink for both of us.
Saturday we had brunch at one of our favorite places!
I apparently didn't take pics of church on Sunday!
